About ReBelle
ReBelle started under a different name with the simple goal of allowing me to fund my hobbies by selling what I made. It has since morphed into much more than that. Art is one of the main things that brings me a sense of peace when it feels like so much in our world is going badly.
I chose the name "ReBelle" because I feel like it encapsulates several different ideas that I'm passionate about. "Belle" means beautiful, and "re" means to do something again. In this way, "ReBelle" is the concept of making something beautiful again. That's how I feel when I use recycled materials to create a new piece, like paper bead jewelry. It is also a similar word to "rebel," a concept I hold close in a world where hopelessness often feels like the only choice. I use art as a way to rebel against that hopelessness. Even if I can't make a huge difference for the planet, I can make my corner of the world more beautiful. Much like the Audrey Hepburn quote, "to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow," I believe that creating art is a way to have hope in darkness.
Welcome to my small corner of the world. I'm so glad you're here.
